2022 Raffle Cub ProjectThe Story: For the 2022 Raffle Cub, a tractor donated to the Club was chosen. Although the Cub was in good shape and ran fine, there were some issues that needed to be addressed. On this page, we will post pictures on the progress of the engine rebuild. The main problem was an oil leak in the front of the engine. We decided to open the engine and investigate. The problem turned out to be that the right front corner of the block had been broken off. A common problem with Cubs. The best solution was to replace the block. The work began on January 8th, 2022 and continued on January 22nd. On the right are pictures from 1/8. Since Donnie was the youngest member of the group, he was chosen to get down on the floor and remove the oil pan bolts. Day 2: Work continued on the Cub. The front crankshaft pulley turned out to be very difficult to remove. It took all of us and the experience of Kim to remove it. The pistons looked good and so did the crankshaft. It was a good day. Thanks to the Prefontaines; Dennis, Kathy and Becky for lunch and all the help. |
